    One of the best ways to ensure you meet your goals is to write them down!

    Reach for Your Goals

    Goals are a key component of success, especially when it comes to improving your health.

    Goals can serve as a motivator to keep working and can help measure your success. But goals should also be reasonable and manageable and could be counterproductive if they are too big.

    Choose a long-term goal and set a (realistic) date to achieve it. For example, you might want to lose 20 pounds within six months. Then divide your goal into smaller short-term goals. It could be to walk 30 minutes twice a week. This could be a manageable goal if you are not already physically active. When you accomplish your smaller goals, you can then set new goals which can lead to one larger goal. You could then set a goal to walk 45 minutes, five days each week or to lose a pound a week. These are all realistic and manageable goals, which can help you meet your ultimate long-term goal.

    Another important aspect of setting goals is to reward yourself. This could be as simple as a new book or CD, or a new item of clothing. And it should motivate you to work hard toward your goal. Just like your goals, start small and work toward something larger.

    Finally, write your goals down as a constant reminder of what you are working toward. By setting and achieving goals, you will be on your way to a healthier you in no time!
